Pilates services to fit into your life
Jenny offers a range of services from teaching you the basics of Pilates to helping you recover from injury or illness. Whatever your physical goal she will support you with the right tools to achieve it.
Pilates based rehabilitation services
Adaptive Pilates helps clients who are recovering from illness, injury or struggling to maintain their fitness due to a long-term chronic condition, using rehabilitation Pilates.
Jenny works with you to create recovery programs using a mix of exercises that both challenges your fitness and fits into your life. To keep you motivated between face-to-face sessions she may suggest: simple strengthening exercises while waiting for the kettle to boil; intervening short stretches for home practice; or specific movements to bring flexibility into tight areas of your body. One thing you're guaranteed is that they will be bespoke programs tailored to your specific situation.
She uses the APPI
method of modified Pilates exercises, which is based on the latest medical research, making it both safe for the general population and progressive: perfect for rehabilitation. The classes she recommends use the same APPI Pilates methodology.
One-to-one Pilates
Individually tailored to you
Jenny provides one-to-one consultation and modified Pilates instruction to help you to achieve your physical recovery goals.
She creates tailored programs that are safe, progressive and as individual as you are! Her trained eye assesses your patterns of movement and adapts exercises to suit your situation; progressing at a speed that is safe but challenging.
Programs are created using a mix of face-to-face in person or online sessions with additional home exercise and tips.
Pilates equipment
For mat-based work at home
Whether you're just starting out or want some variety in your workouts it is best to get the right equipment for your needs.
This may change over time as you progress.
Jenny is pleased to advise what Pilates equipment clients need initially and for future mat work sessions.
Finding neutral
The term neutral is our normal starting position at the beginning of a Pilates session. It is the place where your body is in anatomical balance and is used as a reference point to return to after movement.
If you are purchasing classes (above) or following other recorded Pilates challenges set by Jenny, here is a handy video to show you how to find neutral while standing.
At your initial Pilates assessment or during a beginner session you will be taken through a full explanation of what neutral involves, with guidance to ensure you know how to initially achieve it and return to it after a movement. In one-to-one sessions, Jenny will guide you through finding neutral in other orientations where the session requires it.
The term may also be used in classes as short-hand for setting yourself up before you start, so it's worth becoming familiar with.
