Pilates Equipment
You will need very little equipment to start with, but may need more depending on what you are trying to achieve.
What equipment will be required?
You need very little kit to start Pilates. Jenny supplies all equipment for her in person sessions, initially. However, in order to progress you will need to practice in between sessions, so it is advisable to purchase your own equipment. Wherever possible, Jenny works around any equipment you already have.
She will discuss any kit you need initially or specialist equipment to either support your ongoing recovery or to target particular areas more effectively.
If you need advice, please ask Jenny
for details.
Starting Pilates?
If you're just starting Pilates you will find some basic equipment very useful. For initial sessions and classes: a non-slip mat, one and three inch head cushions, a lighter arm and heavier leg resistance band, a soft ball and loop bands are a great combination to get you going.
More specialist equipment
In addition to basic equipment, other items can help activate specific muscle groups and are suggested for use in conjunction with more advanced sessions and classes or where rehabilitation or conditions prescribe. For example: Swiss ball for Pilates when pregnant or for reversing scoliosis; weighted balls for prevention of Osteoporosis; and foam rollers and spiky balls for activation and self-massaging. Balance pads, resistance tubes or a magic resistance circle offer additional strengthening and variety to Pilates programs.
